When it comes to Adobe Photoshop, most people think of some cripy images. Images where backgrounds are changed or a celebrity is added to a photo. Yes people do it in Adobe Photoshop, and share these images on Social Media. I think this gives people a bad idea of the software.
Adobe Photoshop is not just an image editor, where you can change the skin tone, background. It not just to creates the hoardings you see on the roads. It not just adds colors to an old black and white photograph. Adobe Photoshop is capable of designing a number of graphics you will need to design as a professional designer.
Mock-up creation
You can create a mock-up of the website, web / mobile apps in Adobe Photoshop and show it to your clients without actually building it. Professionals used to build mock-ups for websites in PSDs before all the mock-up designing apps. Yes they made the job easier as their main job is to create mock-ups. But you can create really creative mock-ups in Adobe Photoshop.
PDF creation
Adobe acrobat reader or in word documents are most commonly used to build PDFs. But with Adobe Photoshop you can build really creative PDFs like Visiting cards, Infographics, Monthly weekly reports, Invitation cards and more. If you know Adobe Photoshop well you’ve a whole new world to explore with your creative ideas.
Resume building
I’ve seen many freshers with their resume built in a word document. But when you compare a resume created using a word document with a resume built using Adobe Photoshop (with the same content) you can see the difference yourself. Trust me, people have made their careers in just building creative resumes for freshers using Adobe Photoshop.
Animated GIFs
Yes, you can create GIFs with Adobe Photoshop. I will not walk you through how to create GIFs in Adobe Photoshop as it may need a separate blog post but you can find a number of articles and YouTube videos to learn it.
Exporting images from PDF
People do a lot of things to export images from a PDF. They google and go to the 1st website they see. The websites may or may not give you a high resolution image. Either way, even if it gets the job done, I will never advise you to upload a file from your phone or laptop to any website. Open the PDF in Adobe Photoshop and it will ask you if you want to open it as a page or image, select the image / page you want to export as an image and you get the high resolution image.
Biggest advantage of learning Adobe Photoshop is once you know it, a window opens for you to learn other Adobe products like Lightroom, Illustrator, Premier pro and more. It is not that you can’t directly learn these but if you know one software its easier to learn other.
